anterior axio-appendicular muscles Flashcards
what are attachments of pec major?
proximal attachment of clavicular head: anterior surface of medial half of clavicle.
proximal attachment of sternocostal head: anterior surface of sternum and superior 6 costal cartilages.
distal: lateral lip of intertubucular sulcus of humerus.
what is the action and innervation of pectoralis minor?
action: stabilises scapula by drawing in inferiorly and anteriorly against thoracic wall.
innervation: medial pectoral nerve.
where does pectoralis minor attach?
proximal: third and fifth ribs near costal cartilages.
distal: medial border and superior surface of coracoid process of scapula.
what is the action and innervation of sub-clavius?
action: anchors and depresses clavicle.
innervation: nerve to sub-clavius.
what is the action and innervation of serratus anterior?
action: protects scapula and holds it against thoracic wall, rotates scapula.
innervation: SALT long thoracic nerve.
where does serratus anterior attach?
proximal: lateral parts of 1-8 ribs.
distal: anterior surface of medial border of scapula.
what is the action and innervation of pectoralis major?
action: adducts and medially rotates humerus, draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly.
innervation: lateral and medial pectoral nerves.
