O: anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
I: medial surface - proximal end of the tibial just distal to the tibial tuberosity
A: flexion, abduction, and lateral rotation of the thigh + flexion of the leg

O: iliac crest posterior to the anterior superior iliac spine
I: iliotibial tract
A: flexion, abduction, and medial rotation of the thigh
In: superior gluteal nerve
Rectus Femoris
O: ASIS + ilium above acetabulum
I: patella and through patellar ligament to tibial tuberosity
A: extension of leg, flexion of thigh
In: femoral nerve
Vastus Medialis
O: medial lip of linea aspera + lower part of intertrochanteric line
I: patella and through patellar ligament to the tibial tuberosity
A: extension of the leg
In: femoral nerve
Vastus Lateralis
O: lateral lip of linea aspera of femur, limited origin from intertrochanteric line
I: patella and through patellar ligament to the tibial tuberosity
A: extension of the leg

O: anterior and lateral surfaces of the femur

Articularis Genus
O: distal part of the anterior surface of the femur
I: synovial membrane of knee joint
A: pulls synovial membrane of the knee proximally during extension of the leg
