Ankle Arthrokinematics Flashcards
What are the arthrokinematics for the Tib-Fib joint during dorsiflexion/Plantar flexion
Dorsiflexion - Distal end Posterior glide, Proximal end Anterior glide
Plantarflexion - Distal end Anterior glide, proximal end Posterior glide
What happens with dorsiflexion/Plantarflexion at the Talocrural joint?
(Convex moving on Concave)
Dorsiflexion - Anterior roll, posterior glide
Plantar Flexion- Posterior roll, Anterior glide
What are the subtalar arthrokinematics during inversion/eversion?
Inversion-Calcaneus & Navicular glide medially
Eversion-Calcaneus & Navicular glide laterally
What are the arthrokinematics for the MTP/IP joints during flexion/extension?
Concave on Convex
Flexion- Plantar Roll, Plantar Glide
Extension- Dorsal roll, dorsal glide
What’s the ROM of the talocrural joint?
DF: 0-20 degrees
PF: 0-50 degrees
What are the open & closed positions & capsular pattern for the talocrural joint?
Open: 10 degrees PF
Closed: Full DF
Capsular Pattern: PF > DF
What are the open & closed positions & capsular pattern for the Subtalar joint?
Open: Pronation
Closed: Supination
Capsular Pattern: Supination > Pronation
What are the open & closed positions & capsular pattern for the MTP joint?
Open: 10 degrees extension
Closed: Full extension
Capsular Pattern: Extension > Flexion (1st toe only, other toes don’t have specific capsular pattern)
What are the open & closed positions & capsular pattern for the IP joint?
Open: slight flexion
Closed: Full extension
Capsular Pattern: Flexion > Extension
What’s the ROM for the toes?
1st toe PIP flexion - 90 degrees
2nd-5th toe PIP flexion- 35 degrees
DIP 2nd-5th toe flexion- 60 degrees
DIP 2nd-5th toe extension- 0 degrees
