Animal Tissue Flashcards
Contituents of blood
●plasma
● red blood cells
●white blood cells
● platelets.
What is a nerve made up of
Neurona
Function
●transmits and process information.
What are the two types of nerve tissues
1.Central nervous system
(CNS):Brain And the spinal cord
2.peripheral nervous system (PNS)
:nerves outside the CNS
Main components
Structure:
- Dendrites: receive signals
- Cell body (soma): processes signals
- Axon: transmits signals
Functions of the nerve
Pick up (sense)changes in the internal and external environment.
Manage physical mental and regulatory activities.
Send signals between the receptors and effectors.
Chemical Co-ordination?
squamous stratified epithelium
This type of epithelium usually has protective functions, including protection against microorganisms from invading underlying tissue and/or protection against water loss.
Whst is a blood vessel
blood vessels are specialized structures that transport blood throughout the body, supplying oxygen and nutrients to tissues and organs
Types of bloodvessels
.
Types of Blood Vessels:
- Arteries: Carry oxygenated blood away from the heart to the body.
- Veins: Return deoxygenated blood to the heart.
- Capillaries: Tiny vessels where exchange of oxygen, nutrients, and waste occurs.
Functions of blood vessels
Functions:
- *Blood Transportation
- Regulation of Blood Pressure:
- Exchange of Substances:
Plant growth
Primary thickening-apical meristem
• Tissues, that makes a plant grow longer by its tips.
Secondary thickening-lateral meristem
• Tissues that make a plant grow thicker or wider.
Meristematic tissues
Tissues with undifferentiated and unspecialise cells ongoing cell division.
Permanent tissues
Tissues that do not divide and grow further.
Two types of permanent tissues are
1:simple permanent
2:complex permanent
What are the types of simple permanent tissues
1.Epidermal
Protects,aborbs water,and exachange gases
2.parenchyma
Stores, acts as a packaging tissue
3.collenchyma
Strengthens,and protects
4.sclerenchyma
Strengthen, support and shapes
5.chlorenchyma
Photosynthesis
Sclerenchyma components
☆sclereids
☆fibres
