Q

How is angular speed calculated?
How is angular velocity calculated?
How is angular acceleration calculated?

A

Angular speed = angular distance / time

Angular velocity = angular displacement / time

Angular acceleration = final angular vel. - initial angular vel. / time

Q

What is angular distance?

What is angular displacement?

A

Distance - Sum of all angles as the body moves from start to end position
-eg. 80+60+40+20=200 degrees distance

Displacement - difference in angle between start and end position of the body
-eg. Child starts 50deg from where she started
Displacement - 50 degrees

Q

What is angular motion?

Types of movements around an axis

A

Angular motion is an object turning about an axis of rotation

All body parts travel through same angle, in same direction, at same time

  • medial axis - cart wheel
  • longitude axis - spinning
  • horizontal axis - forward somersault in water
