Area Pellucida

A
  • 18hr chick
  • lighter central area of the blastodisc, which includes the primitive streak and other embryonic structures.
  • It appears relatively light because it overlies the subgerminal cavity; the thin blastodisc is the only tissue on this part of the slide.

  • Here the blastodisc is directly adjacent to the yolk. When the blastodisc is removed some of the underlying yolk remains attached, giving it a darker appearance
