Any projection or bump
Ramus (plural = rami)
An extension of a bone making an angle to the rest of the structure
Trochanter
A large, rough projection
Tuberosity
A smaller, rough projection (smaller than a trochanter)
Tubercle
A small, rounded projection (smaller than a tuberosity)
Crest
A prominent ridge
Line
A low ridge or border (less prominent than a crest)
Spine
A pointed process
Epicondyle
A projection above a condyle
Head
An expanded, rounded articular end, usually supported on the neck of a bone
Condyle
A smooth, rounded articular process
Trochlea
A smooth, grooved articular process, shaped like a pulley
Facet
A small, flat articular surface
Fossa (fossae)
A shallow, basin-like depression
Sulcus (sulci)
A narrow groove
Foramen (foramina)
A rounded passageway, usually for blood vessels or nerves
Canal
A large-diameter passageway through the substance of a bone
Meatus
A tube-like passageway
Fissure
An elongated cleft or slit
Sinus or antrum
A chamber within a bone, usually filled with air
