Anatomy 2 Flashcards
What is the blood supply to the gall bladder
Cystic artery
- Branch of the R hepatic artery which derived from the common hepatic artery (1 of the 3 branches of the coeliac trunk)
What is the septum transversum
a sheet of mesenchyme between the chest and abdomen in the growing embryo that gives rise to parts of the thoracic diaphragm and the ventral mesentery
What is the Ligamentum Teres/ Round ligament
- Remnant of the umbilical vein
- Now, it is a fibrous cord that divides the left part of the liver into medial and lateral sections
What is the porta hepatis
transverse fissure of the liver which extends beneath the left portion of the RIGHT lobe of the liver.
Common hepatic duct leaves the liver through here
What joins to form the common hepatic duct
RIGHT hepatic duct and LEFT hepatic duct leave the liver to form the common hepatic duct
What forms the common Bile duct
Cystic duct coming from the gall bladder
Common hepatic duct from the liver
- Both combine to form the bile duct
What does the bile duct pass from
The common bile duct descends and passes posteriorly to the first part of the duodenum and head of the pancreas
What joins the commonbile duct and what does it form
Main pancreatic duct
- Forms the hepatopancreatic ampulla (commonly known as the ampulla of Vater)
What passes through the ampulla of vater
- Bile empties through the ampulla of vater into the duodenum via the greater duodenal papilla.
What regulates the ampulla of vater
SPhincter of oddi- muscular valve
What is gall bladder’s bile storage capacity
50 ml
What is the position of the greater duodenal papilla
10 cm down from the pylorus
2/3 way down the descending duodenum
