What is Anaphylaxis?
A
-Systemic Absorption of Allergen leading to Systematic activation of Mast Cells

What does systematic activation of the Mast Cells lead to?
A
- Hypotension (cardiovascular collapse)
- Generalized Urticaria
- Angioedema
- Breathing Problems

What are clinical features of Anaphylaxis?
A
- Generalised flush
- Runny nose
- Low blood pressure
- Hives, itchiness on skin
- Pelvic pain
- Loss of consciousness, light-headedness, confusion headache, anxiety
- Swelling of lips, tongue and/or throat
- Difficulty speaking or swallowing
- Alterations in heart rate
- Severe asthma
- Abdominal pain, diarrhoea, nausea and vomiting

How is Anaphylaxis treated?
A
- Give them an EpiPen. Rapid Administration of ADRENALINE
- Remove allergen for a mild allergy and test for the allergen

How is an Epi-Pen administered?
A
- Proper removal of safety cap
- Correct Placement of device against mid-anterolateral thigh
- Correct injection (click heard)
- Device held in place for 10 seconds
- Injection site massaged for 10 seconds
