Analysis of Fast Plant Crosses (L.P 2) Flashcards
LP. 2
What is ANL?
-It is the dominant gene that allows the purple pigment to appear
What is anl?
-It is the recessive gene that allows for yellow-green pigment
How do you do the x^2 test?
(O-E)^2/E
take observed minus expected, square that answer and divide by expected
When do you accept the null hypothesis?
when the probability is less than .05
What did we examine on the Zea Mays (corn)?
-To examine the inheritance of loci that are on the same chromosome to explore genetic linkage
What does D mean in the Zea Mays?
-It means for the plant to be tall
What does d mean in the Zea Mays?
-Causes the plant to be a dwarf
What does the dominant Rg allele mean in Zea Mays mean?
-it causes the edges of the leaf
what does the recessive rg allele mean in Zea Mays?
-it allows the leaves to have smooth margins
What is Recombination?
-It is the exchange of genes in meiosis in offspring
How do you calculate the recombinant percentage/ centimorgan?
-You add the 2 smallest numbers together and divide by the total number of all the group and then multiply by 100
What are Parentals?
-Have chromosome configuration of parents= always biggest numbers in the group
