What is a Conceptual Business Activity Model?
A BAM describes the activities which are essential for the business to be able to meet an onjectives or set of objectives.
Why are BAMs important?
They allows us to input in the requirements definition by modelling essential activities. They also allow analysts to develop requirements from the business activities.
What is the approach to Business Activity Modelling?
Create the business perspective, statements of what the business should be achieving. From the perspectives a conceptual model should be derived showing the essential activities. A consensus model is derived allowing for relevant perspectives. Finally, the consensus model is tested.
BAM - What is ‘Identifying Activities’?
This phase focuses on identifying the primary business activities that will be carried out from the IT systems.
BAM - Building the BAM, tell me about it.
There are different stages. The first being doing - key primary activities that will be documented. Then there is enabling which ensures resources and facilities needed are available. Then there is planning consisting in what training, or how often tu run speifici things needs to be done. Then we have monitoring that sets performance expectations and finally control which comes into play when activities are not doing the expected result.
How do you indicate dependencies in BAM?
Using arrows.
What are some errors found in BAM?
No verb-noun phrase, activities are too high level, activities are too low level, activities are at different levels of detail.
How to resolve conflicts with BAM?
Analysts must consider all perspectives derived from different BAMs and consolidate them for the creation of the Consensus Model.
Business Evenets in BAM?
They can be of three types; external inputs from the outside system, internal decisions come from the internal system, and scheduled points in time.
