AN/URT-44 & MS-2000 Flashcards
What is the purpose of the AN/URT-44 PLB?
Its a first alert device used to signal rescue forces that an aircrew member has either ejected or bailed out of an aircraft.
What does the SAR system consist of?
Constellation of satellites and ground receiving stations which process digital emergency messages and coordinate rescue activities.
What types of satellites are in the C-S system?
Those in low altitude earth orbit (LEO) which make LEOSAR, and Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO)/GEOSAR.
Explain the 4 modes selected by user.
- Tripple beacon mode (3-BCN)- continuous transmission of homing signals at 121.5 and 243 MHz and the 406 MHa digital distress message after activation, untill battery dies or is cut off.
- Dual frequency mode (2-BCN)- continuous transmission of homing signals at 121.5 and 243 MHz only after activation, until battery dies or is cut off.
- 406 only mode- Continuous transmission of the 406 MHz disgital distress message after activation, untill dies or cut off.
- BIT- an operator initiated BIT
What is the size of the battery inspection label.
1X1.25in
How many modes or scenarios can the PLB be operated in and what are they?
3, manual, ACES II/III ejection, and BA series parachute mode.
What is the purpose of the strobe light’s blue filter?
Flash guard so it can be distingushed from gun fire.
Up to what depth is the MS-2000 waterproof?
50ft or 15.3m
What is the strobe lights flash rate?
50 +- 10 flashes per min.
What batteries does the strobe light use?
2 standard 1.5 VDC alkaline AA batteries.
What 2 frequencies can the URT-44 provide homing signals?
121.5 and 243 MHz
How many trailing antennas on the AN/URT-44 PLB?
2.
