Q

Two functions of the pancreas

16
Q

Duodenum

A

a c-shaped structure (The anterior (front) part of the small intestine into which food passes from the stomach)

17
Q

ileum

A

its coiled. it is about 20.25cm long. illeum is internally highly folded and helps to absorb nutrients

18
Q

Cloaca

A

where the digestive waste, urine, sperm, and eggs exit

19
Q

Two types of respiration

A
  1. pulmonary respiration
  2. cutaneous respiration
20
Q

Pulmonary Respiration

A

breathing using lungs. they fill the mouth cavity w/, close the mouth, and force air into the lungs and when they are full the frog will contract its mouth. the air goes through the nostrils.

21
Q

The first loop of the circulatory system

A

carries oxygen-poor blood from the heart to the lungs and takes oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the heart

22
Q

The second loop of the circulatory system

A

transports oxygen-rich blood from the heart -> to the rest of the body and carries oxygen-poor blood from the body ->to the heart

23
Q

3 Separate chambers of the heart

A
  1. right atrium
  2. left atrium
  3. ventricle
(know how to blood flows through this and where it gets it oxygen)
24
Q

Kidneys

A

filter waste from the blood

25
Q

Where is urine temporarily stored

A

in the urinary bladder (right above the cloaca)

26
Q

Most species of amphibians are…. (reproduction)

A

oviparous because they lay eggs in the water

27
Q

Salamanders reproduce by

A

males place sperm packets in the water and the female inserts her packet into her cloaca to fertilize the egg and deposit it on a water structure.

28
Q

How long does it take for adults to be ready to breed

A

one-two years

29
Q

What are the sperm packets that the males put down called

A

spermatophore

30
Q

how long does it take the fertilized eggs to hatch

A

a few days-two weeks later

31
Q

Amphibians eyes

A

are protected from damage and kept moist by a transparent nictitating membrane

32
Q

what do amphibians hear through

A

tympanic membrane or eardrums located on each side of the head

33
Q
A
