A

It was a religious area in the southern states and they strongly believed in the teachings of the Bible.

What do religious fundamentalists believe?

A

They believe that the bible is correct and the the theory of evolution is wrong. They follow the bible very strictly and literally.

What was the Monkey Trial?

A

In 1925 John Scopes was arrested and put on trial for teaching Darwin’s theory of evolution. He was found guilty and fined $100, which he didn’t end up paying.

How were Native Americans treated?

A

They were sent to Indian reservations where there were food shortages and boarding schools. The Eugenics project meant that women couldn’t have children. However the Indian Citizenship act gave them citizenship.

A

They were sent to separate schools, they couldn’t vote and many were beaten and lynched.

A

In 1921 there were only 100,000 but by the mid 1920s they had 5 million members. However in 1925 Stephenson was arrested and the number of members decreased.

A
