Sheehan syndrome?
Anterior pituitary hemorrhagic necrosis caused by hypertrophy of the prolactin-secreting cells in conjunction with a hypertensive episode
Postpartum hemorrhage
Patient post delivery with amenorrhea and inability to breast-feed?
If patient had been able to breast-feed, most likely diagnosis?
Sheehan syndrome; intrauterine adhesions
Postpartum hemorrhage?
Over 500 mL for vaginal delivery or over 1000 mL for C-section
When to worry about pathologic amenorrhea post pregnancy?
No resumption of menses 12 weeks after delivery in a non-lactating woman
Amenorrhea in a postpartum woman without history of postpartum hemorrhage?
Pursue hypothalamic causes (hypothyroidism, hyperprolactinemia)
Treatment of Sheehan syndrome ?
Replacement of hormones
Basal body temperature in Sheehan syndrome?
Monophasic (normally biphasic)
