Rights of accused person

  1. ) Before being tried for a serious criminal act, a person must have first been indicted by a grand jury
  2. ) no person may be subjected to double jeopardy
  3. ) no person may be forced to testify against him or herself ( right to remain silent

  5. ) private property may not be taken from a person without the government paying a fair price for it ( eminent domain)
