difference between theyre time
amateurs had more free time so could participate in more activity whereas the pros has less free time and less opportunities for participation
differences between theyre money
amateurs had more money so a wider range of activities to participate in whereas pros has less money so access to fewer activities and were likely to participate in only one sport
differences between theyre commitment
amateurs had no training/ dedication and no desire to improve whereas pros participated in training and needed to improve
difference between theyre morality
amateurs had higher morality, fair play when taking part whereas pros has lower morality, gamesmanship and a must win attitude
what are some attributes of a gentleman amateur
played to a high moral code, social elite(lots of time and money), upper/middle class(ex public school boys), sport was a character building exercise, ‘elite’ performers, all rounders
