Tracheal
referring to the trachea
Bronchovesicular sounds
heard in the posterior chest between the scapulae and in the center part of the anterior chest
Spirometer
an instrument for measuring the air capacity of the lungs
Murphy’s eye
a hole at the tip of the endotracheal tube to prevent tube obstruction if the beveled end of the tube is obstructed by mucus or sealed by contact with the tracheal wall
Vesicular
soft, low-pitched sounds that can be heard throughout the lungs, primarily when a person breathes in
Uvula
a fleshy extension at the back of the soft palate which hangs above the throat
Capnometry
measures carbon dioxide in expired air
Bronchial
relating to the bronchi or bronchioles
Vallecula
Located just above the epiglottis and is the landmark used with intubation with a mac blade
Capnography
measures CO2 in expired air and provides a waveform
