Q

Special VFR minima conditions

A

Pilot:
• Clear of cloud and with surface in sight, flight visibility is not less than 1500m (800m for helicopters)
• Fly at a speed of 140kts IAS or less to give adequate opportunity to observe other traffic and any obstacles i time to avoid a collision

ATC should not give a special VFR clearance unless:
• If ground visibility is less than 1500m (less than 800m for helicopters)
