Control Zone
Controlled airspace spanning from the surface upwards, must extend 5nm beyond the centre
port the aerodrome in the direction approaches are made
Control Area
Controlled airspace other than a control zone
Lower limit must be greater than 700 feet Agl
(E.gs include corridors such as those along airways and TMA(Terminal Maneuvering Areas))
Class A airspace
IFR Only, flights are seperated
Class B airspace
IFR and VFR, all flights provided with atc services and are separated regardless of flight rules
Class C airspace
IFR and VFR, atc service for all aircraft. IFR separated from all flights. VFR separated from IFR and provided with traffic information on other VFR traffic
Class D airspace
IFR and VFR allowed. Atc for all aircraft, IFR separated from each other and given info on VFR flights. VFR provided with traffic info on all other flights.
What are RNP specifications?
Number referring to how many miles of accuracy a navigation system can achieve 95% of the time. E.g RNP 5 = +/-NM of accuracy 95% of the time
ATS Route designators
First letter = designator (U - Upper airspace, S - supersonic, K - Kopter)
Second letter = RNAV route (A,B,G,R,H,J,V,W) Non-RNAV - (L,M,N,P,Q,T,Y,Z)
Numbers - route designators
Last letter (not always) - F = Advisory Service only. G = FIS only
