Aerodromes - Designs And Operations Flashcards
Aerodrome reference point?
Located at or near the actual or planned geometric centre of the aerodrome
Pavement strength?
For aircraft over 5.7 tonnes
PCN (Pavement Classification Number)
ACN (Aircraft. Classification Number)
Stopway
Defined rectangular at end of take - off run available to aircraft involved in an RTo
TORA vs TODA
T/o run available
T/o distance available (includes clearway)
ASDA
Accelerate Stop Distance Available. Take off run distance available plus clearway
LDA
Landing distance available. Length of runway available for the ground run of an aircraft
Clearway
An area at the end of TORA which is free from obstacles that could cause a hazard to aircraft in flight. (75m+ either side of the extended centreline)
TODA
Runway plus clearway
OR
1.5 TORA if the clearway is not obstacle limited
Balanced field
This refers to a situation where TODA = ASDA
RESA
Runway end safe area. Required for:
All code 3 and 4 runways.
All code 1 and 2 instrument runways
Less damaging to aircraft in the event of runway excursion
Rapid exit taxiways
Intersection with runway between 25° and 45°
Should allow exit of 50knots/93kph (runway codes 3 and 4) and at 35knots/65kph (runway codes 1 and 2) in the wet
