Aircraft Systems Knowldge (Automatic Flight) Flashcards
On takeoff, what speed does SRS command with both engines operating?
(FMA)
SRS gives pitch guidance to maintain V2 + 10
On takeoff, what speed does SRS command if an engine failure is detected?
(FMA)
SRS gives pitch guidance to maintain the greater of V2 or current speed, Limited to V2 +15
When does the airplane exit SRS mode?
(FMA)
Automatically at the Acceleration Altitude or when another Vertical Mode is engaged
With V/S active, waht would happen is you select a higher speed?
(PFD/FMA)
Thrust would be commanded to increase (up to CLB) until the selected speed os attained. Then thrust would reduce to maintain selected speed.
During a normal Takeoff, when will the A/THR become engaged?
When the thrust levers are moved to the CLB detent.
In a Managed Climb, what FMA changes will occur if you pull HDG?
(FMA/FCP)
NAV mode will change to HDG, and CLB mode will change to OP CLB.
In Managed Descent, what FMA changes(s) will occur if you pull HDG?
(3 things)
(FMA/FCP)
NAV will change to HDG
DES mode will change to V/S
THR mode will change to SPEED
During an ILS APP, at approx. what altitude will the LOC/GS indication change to LAND on the FMA and LAND what does it mean?
(2 things)
(FMA)
Below 400 RA
LAND indicates that the LOC and GS Modes are locked. No action on the FCU will disengage the LAND Modes, FLARE and ROLLOUT Modes will successively engage.
During an autoland, when do you expect the FMA FLARE indication to appear?
(FMA)
40’ RA
During an autoland, with the FMA FLARE indication displayed, what actions are occurring within the autopilot and autothrust?
(2 things)
Autopilot aligns yaw axis with runway centerline and flares in pitch
Autothrust reduces to idle if engaged
During an autoland, what does ROLL OUT indicate?
(FMA)
The Autopilot is guiding the aircraft along the runway centerline and the yaw bar is displayed on the PFD
What are the threee ways you can disconnect the Autothrust?
(3 things)
Push either AUTOTHRUST Instinctive Disconnect pb
Move both Thrust Levers to idle
Push A/THR pb on FCU (will cause THR lock)
In level flight with the thrust levers in the CL detent, what will happen to the thrust if you press the instinctive disconnect pb’s?
Thrust will go to CL (matching actual current TL position)
What does THR LK mean?
(FMA)
Thrust is fixed at the current setting (could be a fault or pressing the FCU A/THR button)
(Fix by moving thrust levers)
How would you get out of THR LK?
Move the Thrust Levers.
What triggers A.FLOOR protection to engage?
(2 things)
(FMA)
A. FLOOR is triggered by a predetermined AOA
A.FLOOR means A/THR will command TOGA thrust regardless of T/L position.
When the A. FLOOR mode triggers, what does A/THR command?
(FMA)
A/THR will command TOGA
What dies TOGA LK indicate?
(FMA)
TOGA LK means TOGA thrust is still being commanded (A.FLOOR triggering conditions are no longer met)
How do you get out of TOGA LK?
The A/THR must be disconnected
During a Go-Around, what FMA indications will confirm that the Aircraft has entered the GA Phase?
(2 things)
MAN TOGA
SRS
(confirms that aircraft is in the GA phase)
The aircraft is in Normal Law and Autothrust is selected OFF. Is A. FLOOR available?
Yes
When the aircraft leaves A. FLOOR what FMA change will occur.
A. FLOOR will change to TOGA LK
