What is a patrol plane commander (PPC) and his/her responsibilities?
Used in case a mission commander is not assigned, position is assumed by pilot in command.
Who is a mission commander and what is he/she responsible for?
Naval aviator or Naval flight officer responsible for all phases of the assigned mission except control of the aircraft.
What is a patrol plane pilot (PPP) and his/her responsibilities?
Assists the PPC and pilots the aircraft when the PPC is away from his/her station.
What is a patrol plane co-pilot (PPC) and his/her responsibilities?
Acts as relief for PPC or PPP during extended flight operations.
What is a flight engineer (FE) and his/her responsibilities?
Directly responsible to pilot in command.
Performs interior and exterior checks and continually monitors engine and system flight station controls and indicators.

What is the purpose of a second flight engineer?
Acts as relief for the FE during extended flight operations.

What is a tactical coordinator (TACCO) and his/her responsibilities?
Employs appropriate tactics and procedures to most effectively carry out the mission of the aircraft to its crew.
What is a co-tactical coordinator (COTAC) and his/her responsibilities?
Reports to TACCO.

What is a navigation/communications officer (NAV/COM) and his/her responsibilities?
Maintains record of present and past positions, inserts navigation fly-to points, updates geographical positions, transmits reports, and maintains accurate record of flight.
What are acoustic operators responsible for?
Detect, classify, and report contact data.
What are electronic warfare operators responsible for?
Supports mission by utilizing radar, ESM, MAD/Sub anomaly detection (SAD), IRDS, and IFF systems and subsystems.
Directed by TACCO.
What are safety of flight radar operators (SOFRO) responsible for?
Provide weather, terrain, and aircraft avoidance using radar and IFF systems.
What are ordnance qualified crewmembers responsible for?
Obtain and ensure proper loading of mission search stores as required by TACCO.
What are assistant ordnance qualified crewmembers responsible for?
Assist primary.
What are in-flight technicians responsible for?
Pre-flight checks on data-processing system and in-flight repair of equipment.
