BCF Fire Extinguisher
What types of fire is it used on?
How does it work?
A
Low toxicity extinguisher, used on all classes of fire, except class ‘D’.
Class D fires are those caused by combustible metals such as sodium, magnesium and titanium.
BCF works on the principle of removing atoms from fire, therefore changing its structure and extinguishing the flames.

How many on board & what do you check?
A
Quantity – 4
PRE-FLIGHT CHECKS:
- Correct number onboard
- Stowed correctly with safety catch in position
- Red indicator disc present
Note:
Newer BCF fire extinguishers have a gauge on the bottom of the bottle, this is checked by Engineering.
