A

Shall not occur if PiC cannot maintain flight attitude, height & position from objects illuminated by heli ground or celestial light

19
Q

State the license requirements for external sling load operations

A

External load - CPL or PPL (if instructor has signed off in logbook)

  • Safety pilot has adequate vision
  • Observer to aid in extra vision
  • Fully functioning controls from both stations
22
Q

Describe the standard overhead joining procedure

A
  • Radio intentions to Traffic
  • Pass overhead at 1,500” & observe conditions on aerodrome
  • Cross to non traffic side & descend to circuit height
  • Turn 90 degrees & cross upwind threshold while getting to 1,000” / circuit height
  • Join downwind with adequate spacing to other traffic
23
Q

Describe the right of way rules

A

Head on - Turn right.
Converging - Give way to aircraft on right.
Overtaking - Overtake on right.
Landing - Giveway to any aircraft on final

24
Q

Where must carry on baggage be stowed?

A
  • Baggage locker
  • Underseat in a way that it can’t slide
25
Describe the speed limitations for aircraft.
No more than 250kts at an altitude below 10,000" Exceptions - Min safe speed is 250kts or above. - Aircraft at aviation show
26
What areas on an aircraft must show no snow, ice or frost on them before flight?
Wings Stabilizers Control surfaces Rotors / propellers
27
State the restrictions around aerobatic flight.
Without rating - Above 3,000" - No passengers With rating - Above 1,500" - Yes passengers but above 3,000" With rating & at show - Below 1,500" - No passengers
28
State the requirements of an ELT
Certificated to transmit on 121.5 & 406 MHz Identified location Self buoyant Portable Water resistant
29

30
When can an aircraft fly without an airworthiness certificate & what requirements must be met?
- Test flight to demonstrate eligibility to gain an airworthiness cert. - Type certificate is in force - Pilot acts as 'test pilot' & is able to certify requirements to gain airworthiness cert.
31
When must passengers where seat belts?
- During takeoff & landing. - When flying less than 1,000" above the surface. - When PiC deems its necessary for safety - Aerobatic flight - Open air cockpits
32
When can a PiC carry passengers for an external load operation?
Only those who are essential to the operation
33
State the minimum height for an external sling load operation
Notwithstanding past 91 PiC may if necessary to complete the operation, fly below 500" & within 150m to persons or objects.
