Air Conditioning Flashcards
What is the purpose of the primary heat exchangers?
To lower the bleed air temperatures for the air cycle machines
Selection of the RAM AIR switch closes what valves?
Left and right ECS pack valves
The decrease in air conditioning inflow as a result of an ECS pack over-temperature will cause what indication?
An amber “COOL TURB HOT” CAS message will illuminate
What is the limitation with a pack switch selected OFF?
To remain above 41,000 feet with a pack selected OFF, the respective cowl anti-ice switch must be ON with the isolation valve CLOSED
What actions would cause an air conditioning pack valve to close? (5)
- L/R Pack Control Switches
- Selecting the RAM AIR switch ON
- Selection of the master start or crank switch (left pack)
- Selection of an engine start switch (right pack)
- An amber “COOL TURB HOT” CAS msg (ground only)
If an air conditioning pack is selected OFF, why can you not bleed the respective engine using wing anti-ice?
Because the anti-ice control valves regulate air relative to temperature and the bleed air draw may not be sufficient to ensure smooth engine operation
How does switching your cabin temperature control to OFF affect the cabin temperature?
The cabin temperature will go to full COLD operation
What might cause an amber “COOL TURB HOT” CAS message?
12th stage air is entering the pack (anti-ice selected ON)
Are the air conditioning pack valves switch position or valve position indicators?
Valve position (OFF light illuminates when the valve is CLOSED)
What would happen if an amber “COOL TURB HOT” CAS message illuminates while on the ground?
The affected pack valve will automatically close
With the RAM AIR switch selected to RAM, what control does the crew have regarding air temperature and pressure?
During RAM AIR ventilation, the crew has no control over the temperature or pressure of the air
