Air And Weather #5B Flashcards
What’s is the 2 in the water cycle
Source of water ( lakes river ocean )
What is the 1 in the water cycle
Sun’s heat
What is the 3 in the water cycle
Water vapor clings to the smoke and dust particles in the air
Suns heat cause EVAPORATION
What is the 4 in the water cycle
Water vapor rises
What is the 5 in the water cycle
Meets cold air
What is the 6 water cycle
Molecules of water vapor move closer together and from microscopic water droplets
What is the 7 water cycle
Meets even colder air
What is the 8 water cycle
Droplets join together forming a cloud
What is the 9 water cycle
Air becomes colder yet
What is the 10 water cycle
More drops join together. Because it is cold droplets freeze into ice crystals to became larger
What is the 11 water cycle
The cloud rises, cools and ice crystals become so heavy the air can’t hold these frozen molecules so…
What is the 12 water cycle
Precipitation
_________________
Falls
Rain
What is the 13 water cycle
Collection of water occurs in rivers, lakes, oceans and as groundwater
What is evaporation
Heats up water and turns it into vapor the water vapor goes in to the air
What is condensation
Air gets cold and changes back into liquid forming clouds
What is relative humidity
Relative humidity is the amount of moisture in the air compared to what the air can hold at that tempater
What is dew point
The tempter we need to cool the air down to in order for water to condense and form clouds, dew and other form of precipitation
How does dew form
The Cooler the air water the less water vapor it can hold and therefore it becomes saturated.condensation occurs when air reaches it dew point. Water vapor that condenses on object is visible as dew or frost. At high dew forms first on the ground because that is where the air is coolest
What four places that collection happens in precipitation
Rivers oceans lakes and groundwater
What 3 forms of precipitation that form cloud
Precipitation occurs when so much after has condensed.Air cannot hold it anymore. The clouds get heavy and water falls back to earth on the form of rain, hail or snow
