TYPES OF HYPOTHESIS

A
  • experimental - in an experimental study (has an IV and DV)
  • alternative - in non-experimental study (case study, observation, correlation, self-report)
  • directional - state the way they predict the results will go (e.g female students will attain higher grades than male students)
  • non-directional - states there will be a difference but not how (e.g there will be a difference in the grades attained by female and male students)
  • null - no effect (e.g there will be no difference between female and male students’ grades)
