A
- a predictions of the relationship of two variables
- more detailed than the aim
- can be proved wrong

TYPES OF HYPOTHESIS
A
- experimental - in an experimental study (has an IV and DV)
- alternative - in non-experimental study (case study, observation, correlation, self-report)
- directional - state the way they predict the results will go (e.g female students will attain higher grades than male students)
- non-directional - states there will be a difference but not how (e.g there will be a difference in the grades attained by female and male students)
- null - no effect (e.g there will be no difference between female and male students’ grades)
