the muscles shortens eg bicep curl
eccentric
the muscle lengthens - downward movement eg downward phase of pressup
bicep and triceps
hinge- movement occurs at the elbow. flexion to extension
quads and hamstring
hinge- movement occurs at the knee. flexion to extension
gastrocnemius and tibialis anterior
hinge- movement occurs at the ankle. plantar flexion to dorsiflexion
