A

loss or impairment of the ability to recognise and identify objects, persons, sounds or other sensory stimuli using one or more of the senses due to brain injury

A

Apperceptive agnosia

A

What is seen is not recognised and cannot identify parts of a stimuli as meaningful. They are not able to draw even if told what is is and can generally only identify through touch.

Associative visual agnosia

A

Inability to associate a visual stimulus with stored information about objects in memory. They can describe or redraw or copy what stimuli they perceive but cannot explain what it is used for.

Prosopagnosia

A

Inability to recognise familiar face including their own in a mirror or photography. They can use other visual characteristics to recognise people (age, tattoos, hair, etc.)

A

Inability to recognise more than one object at a time in a scene that contains more than one object. They may only see parts of objects and fail to comprehend the overall meaning of the world they are seeing.

A

Inability to identify and distinguish between different colours. They have normal basic colour vision and colour discrimination but are unable to name the colour of an object they see or provide a list of objects that are of that colour.

A

Inability to recognise or comprehend written or printed words and have severe reading difficulties whilst other language skills (talking and listening) are not affected. Difficulty writing and reading comprehension.
