a few hours = a couple of hours
I spend the next a couple of hours answering all the questions
나는 모든 질문에 답변하려고 많은 시간을 썼다.
spend 시간 ~ing = ~ing 하려고 얼마의 시간(돈)을 쓰다.
a couple of hours는 맞는 표현입니다. ‘couple’이라는 단어는 원래 ‘두 개’라는 의미를 지니고 있습니다. 하지만 시간이나 수량을 표현할 때는 ‘약간’, ‘몇 개’ 정도의 의미로 사용됩니다.
예를 들면:
I’ll be there in a couple of minutes. (몇 분 안에 거기 있겠습니다.)
He has a couple of kids. (그에겐 두세 명의 자녀가 있습니다.)
I need to buy a couple of things from the store. (가게에서 몇 가지 물건을 사야 합니다.)
따라서 ‘a couple of hours’는 ‘2-3시간 정도’라는 의미가 됩니다. 정확한 시간을 말하기보다는 대략적인 시간을 표현할 때 couple을 사용합니다. 의미가 약간 달라진 것이지만 ‘두 개’라는 원래 뜻에서 비롯된 표현입니다.

I had 2-hours classes 3 times a week.
난 일주일에 3번 2시간 수업을 받았다.
I was given an important role in the show because I was the best student.
난 중요한 역할을 맡게 되었다.
There were no more threats

그런 방식으로, 난 유리한 출발을 할 수 있었다.
At 7 AM, I would leave the house and walk to the university
난 아침 7시에 집을 나섰고, 학교로 걸어갔다,
보통 Wolud 는 가정법으로 쓰이는 게 대부분이나 과거의 의미로 쓰일때도 있다.
이때 과거는 주기적으로 일어난 과거를 의미한다.
On top of that, the bedroom window was broken
그것뿐 아니라, 침실 창문은 부서져있었다.
The street was full of street cats
거리는 길고양이들로 가득찼다.
I’m terrified of spiders
거미가 너무 무서웠다.
Instead of opening my windows, I opened my front door to let fresh air in
창문을 열어놓는 대신, 현관문을 열었다
it was somehow a colourful and happy time in my life
그건 왠지 내인생에 다채롭고 행복한 시간 이였다.
it wasn’t easy to find a suitable place
적합한 곳을 찾기란 쉽지 않았다.
My freind wasn’t very good at organizing things, so she asked me to handle it
내 친구는 상황을 해결해내는 능력이 좋지 않았다.
even though i spent an hour a day searching, it took a long time.
검색에 하루에 한시간씩 시간을 썼음에도 불구하고, 그건 오래 걸렸다.
I called the flat owner and I arranged a veiwing.
집주인에게 연락했고 집볼 약속을 정했다.
He had said he would call me the day before, but he hadn’t
그 전날에 전화하기로 했는데 안했다.
startled, she looked at me and said.
깜짝놀라서, 그녀는 나를 보며 말했다.

너 사기를 당한 걸 수도 있어,
I hope I’m wrong, but I’ve seen a situation like this too many times.
내가 틀리길 바라지만, 이런 상황을 많이 본적이 있다.
