Aerobic PATH Protocols Flashcards
What is the Tanaka equation to predict MHR?
[208 - (0.7 x age)]
What are two QEP determined reasons for which they should terminate the test?
A client exercising below 85% HRmax but appear in distress - judgement call
Client goes beyond 85% HRmax within the workload
What are all conditions in which the protocol should be terminated?
Client goes above 85% HRmax
Client asks to stop
Client shows signs of physiological distress
Cannot maintain cadence (mCAFT and cycle ergometer)
Equipment failure
Client experiences pain
What should the intensity of the active recovery be/how long?
Duration can be selected by client - but at least 3 minutes and at a lower intensity than first workload
Add 2 minutes if not fully recovered by 3 minutes
Record HR every minute
When/how long should passive recovery be?
Immediately following active recovery - seated
Until client feels adequately recovered
HR taken every minute
BP taken at 1 and 3 minutes
HR and BP must be below cutoffs at 3 mins. If not, extend 2 mins and measure again
What age ranges are aerobic fitness protocols valid and reliable for?
15-69
