Aerobic and Anaerobic Flashcards

1
Q

What does Aerobic mean?

Q

What does Anaerobic mean?

A

Anaerobic
- When O2 is not present
- Short events (Up to 30 seconds)
- High intensity events
- Demand is too high (Oxygen debt)
- Event finishes before oxygen can reach muscles

Q

Define Oxygen Debt

A

Oxygen Debt
- Lack of Oxygen + build up of Lactic Acid causes fatigue
- Anaerobic systems require O2 to restore them
- When a person stops exercising, they will breathe deeply + rapidly to restore O2 levels in the body
