Adrenergic (exam 2) Flashcards
Alpha 1 receptors have what actions
- vasoconstriction of blood vessels going to skin, GI tract and kidneys
- contration of arrector pili, uterus, ureters, internal urethral sphincters
Alpha 2 receptors have what actions?
- inhibit insulin secretion from pancreas
- contraction of GI sphincters
Beta 1 receptors have what actions
- stimulating increased HR and contractility
- stimulating renin secretion from kidneys
Beta 2 receptors have what actions?
- vasodilation of blood vessels going to heart, liver, and skeletal muscles
- bronchodilation of lungs
- relaxation of uteris, GI tract, and urinary bladder
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the heart
B1: increase heart rate/ contractility
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the blood vessels
A1: vasoconstriction
B2: vasodilation
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the blood pressure
A1, B1: increase BP
B2: decrease BP

B2: bronchodilation
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the eye
A1: mydriasis
B: increase humor production increase pressure
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the GU tract
- A1: close sphincter (promote continence)
- B2: detrusor muscle relaxtion; uterine relaxation (premature labor)
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the CNS
a1: Increase vigilance and focus
What effect will adrenergic agonist have on the neuromuscular junction
B2: muscle tremors

What effect will adrenergic antagonists have on the heart
B1: decrease HR and contractility
What effect will adrenergic antagonists have on the blood vessels
- A1: vasodilation
- B2: decrease vasodilation = decrease perfusion
