Adrenaline and Thyroxine Flashcards
Where is adrenaline produced
Adrenal glands
When is adrenaline produced
When you get scared, stressed or need to exercise
Where can the adrenal glands be found
Above the kidneys
When released what are the 4 causes from adrenaline
- increased heart rate
- increased blood pressure
- increased blood flow to the muscles
- increased blood sugar (glucose) levels
Where is thyroxine produced
Thyroid gland
Where is the thyroid gland found

What are the 3 roles of thyroxine
- growth
- development
- increased your metabolic rate
What happens in thyroxine levels are too low
Pituitary gland will release TSH
This stimulates the thyroid gland
Releases more thyroxine
Thyroxine levels in the blood go back to normal
What happens if thyroxine levels are too high
Thyroxine will inhibit the pituitary gland producing TSH
Less TSH means the thyroid gland won’t release as much thyroxine
Thyroxine levels in the blood fall back to normal
What does TSH stand for
Thyroid stimulating hormone
