Adaptive Cells Flashcards
1
Q
small lymphocyte
A
- specific antigen receptors
- communicates with other cells by cytokines and receptors
- clonal proliferation
2
Q
What two major subgroups do small lymphocytes differentiate to?
A
- b-cells-plasma cells that produce antibodies
2. t-cells-helper and killer and control cytokine production
3
Q
B-cells
A
- activated b-cells make antibody-antigen antibodies on their cell surface
- plasma cells-make antibody
4
Q
T-cells
A
- commanders in chief of the immune system
- Two major T-cell types
1. cytotoxic tcells- similar to NK cells
2. Helper Tcells- produce molecules and cytokines that direct the immune response by macrophages and b-cells as well as augment the recruitment of immune cells to the site of infection
