what do desert animals need to do to keep cool?
1) have a larger surface area compared to volume-loose more body heat
2) be efficient with water-loose less water by producing more concentrated urine/ also they make little sweat
3) be good in hot conditions-thin layers of body fat, thin coat. e.g camels keep all their fat in their humps
4) camouflage- being a sandy colour gives good camo, avoid predators and sneak up on prey
what do arctic animals need to do to keep warm?
1) small surface area to their volume
2) well insulated- a thick layer of blubber and acts as a energy store when food is low
3) camouflage- white fur to avoid predators and sneak on prey
