Q

What is the pathophyisiology of DIC?

A

The entire coagulation cascade gets activated. Micro clots form all over the place; these clots use up all of the platelets, fibrin, and fibrinogen, ironically, causing bleeding… so - bleeding and clotting are occurring at the same time.
