What is acne rosacea?
A
Chronic skin disease of unknown aetiology

What are the features of acne rosacea?
A
- Typically affects nose, cheeks and forehead
- Flushing often first symptom
- Telangiectasia
- later develops into persistent erythema with papules and pustules
- Rhinophyma (nose changed)
- Sunlight may exacerbate symptoms

What is the treatment of mild acne rosacea?
A
Topical metronidazole (limited number of papules and pustules no palques)

What treatment can be considered for patients with predominant flushing?
A
Topical brimonidine gel

What can be used to treat severe acne rosacea?
A
Antibiotics e.g. oxytetracycline

How should a patient with rhinophyma be managed?
A
Referred to derm
