What can change the HCO3?

A
  1. ) The kidneys by kicking HCO3 into the urine or H+ into the urine
  2. ) The GI tract secretes a lot of HCO3 and H+. Vomiting and diarrhea can deplete HCO3
  3. ) Ingesting too many tums, become alkalotic
  4. ) Use up HCO3 by making acid (lactic acid, ketoacidosis)
