Accommodation Flashcards
When they have a slow response to changes in fixation distances. This is referring to the patient that struggles with flexibility in accom there may be a lag or blur as they change fixation distances
Accommodation infacility-
When a pt struggles with a reduced range in which they can stimulate focus to keep things clear. May not have trouble at far but will struggle to get clarity when return to near target
Accommodative insufficiency
Ability to focus the eyes to clear close to change from situation to near and to maintain clarity at a certain distance for an extended period of time
Accommodation
Syndrome where a patient exhibits a lower than normal focusing ability. When pt struggles with a reduced range in which they can stimulate focus to keep things clear. Pt may not have trouble at far but will struggle to get clarity when return to near( they struggle with amplitude ( range of distance or lens power over which the pt can stim focus to maintain clarity) minus is difficult
Accommodative insufficiency
When a patient has no issue bringing a target closer however is slow to release their focus when an object is moved farther away. This is often the pt you need to work on breathing or muscle relaxation techniques when switching to fat distance while encouraging peripheral awareness ( difficulty releasing relaxing accom) or paralysis doing at near focusing go to far stuck can’t relax to go to far.
Accommodative Excess
This is when they have a slow response to changes in fixation distances. This is referring to the patient that struggles with flex in accom there may be a lag or blur as they change fixation distance.a pt who has reduced flex ( the ease at which accomm can be changed from one distance to another) this is referring to the pt that struggles with flex in accom there may be a lag or blur as they change fix distances difficulty with flex difficulty near to far
