What is deviance
deviance is behaviour that differs from the norm. it can be either unusual and good, unusual and bizarre or unusual and bad
what are examples of the 3 types of deviance
- unusual and good, giving 25% of your wages to charity
- unusual and bizarre, urine therapy
- unusual and bad, crime
what is crime
a form of deviant behaviour that involves serious, harmful acts that are wrongful against the law and society
what are summary offences
less serious offences such as speeding, dealt in magistartes
what are indictable offences
more serious offences such as murder, dealt in crown court
what are values
values are the general principles for how we live our lives. they tell us what is right and wrong
what are norms
norms are specific rules or socially accepted standrds that govern people’s behaviour in particular situations
what are moral codes
moral codes are basic set of rules, values and principles held by an individual, group, organisation or society as a whole
