Type of abortion that is intentional termination of pregnancy before the complete development of the fetus and it occurs as a result of artificial or medical reason
Induced abortion
This method involves two medications. To inhibit hormones and for breaking down the womb lining of the embryo. 9 weeks
Early medical
It is the procedure for removing the embryo from the uterus by gentle suctioning. 7-15 weeks
Vacuum aspiration or suction termination
Procedure when cervix is opened or dilated then followed by insertion of forceps and suction tube for removing the fetus 15 weeks
Surgical dilation and evacuation
An abortion that occurs naturally not artificially
Spontaneous abortion
An abortion that has no cervical dilation but has vaginal bleeding
Threatened abortion
An abortion where internal os dilates, membranes may rupture
Imminent abortion
Abortion where internal os is dilated, parts of products of conception are retained, most often placenta
Incomplete abortion
All contents of conception are expelled
Complete abortion
This medication works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Which will breakdown the uterus lining and pregnancy will not continue
Mifepristone
This medication makes the womb contract causing cramping and bleeding similar to a miscarriage
Misoprostol
Is an infectious and inflammatory disorder of the upper female gential tract, including the uterus, fallopian tubes, and adjacent pelvic structures. May spread to abdomen
Disseminated intravascular coagulation
