What are Schizophrenia negative symptoms?
Signal that something is missing e.g. lack of emotion, lack of motivation, withdrawal from relationships
What are Schizophrenia positive symptoms
Presence of something not usually there e.g. hallucinations or delusions
Define Panic disorder
Characterized by attacks of intense fear and feelings of doom- attacks can include physiological and psychological symptoms
Define Obession
Persistent irrational thoughts or ideas
Define Compulsion
Intentional behaviours or acts in response to obsessions
Define Dissociative Identity Disorder
Was formerly referred to as multiple personality disorder, where individuals have at least two separate personalities
Define Conversion disorder
Loss or significant change in physical function (e.g. loss of sight) in the absence of a physical diagnosis
Define Bulimia nervosa
An eating disorder characterized by a binge-and-purge pattern
Explain Aetiology of eating disorders
Research highlights genetics, cultural norms for thinness and personality can contribute to eating disorders
Define Substance-related disorders
Disorders characterised by continued use of a substance including alcohol or cocaine that negatively affects psychological and social functioning
Define Borderline Personality Disorder
Marked by extremely unstable interpersonal relationships, dramatic mood swings, unstable sense of identify, intense fears of separation, and impulsive behaviour
Define Psychiatrist
Medical doctors who specialize in biomedical treatments but may also perform psychotherapy

People transfer thoughts, feelings, fears and wishes onto the therapist. Part of psychodynamic therapy

Client gradually confronts a phobic stimulus mentally while in a state that inhibit anxiety

A form of anxiolitics medication which can be used to treat anxiety
