ABI - Assessmentss Flashcards
FMA
Fugl-Meyer assessment of sensorimotor recovery after stroke.
Assesses motor function (UL&LL), balance, sensation and general function.
NIHSS
National institute of health stroke scale.
Measurement of neurological deficit severity associated with stroke.
Aphasia, behavior, cognition, dysarthria, vision and perception.
NOS-TBI
Assesses neurological function right after patient regains consciousness.
Orientation, CN function, strength, sensation, language and coordination + brainstem reflexes.
SIS
Stroke impact scale.
How the stroke has changed the patients life.
Strength, hand function, ADL, mobility, communication, emotion,
memory/reasoning and participation
MAL
Motor activity log.
Subjective, rating quality and amount of movement of affected UL in ADLs.
PPT
Purdue pegboard test.
Measure of gross (shoulder/elbow mobility) and fine (wrist/finger selectivity) UL function.
Also attention and memory affecting spatial reasoning and planning. Ability to perceive/mirror environment, spatial awareness.
NHPT
Nine hole peg test.
Measures fine motor skills (finger selectivity and dexterity). Finger sensitivity/wrist mobility. Less able to get nervous/confused/frustrated.
BBT
Box and Blocks test.
Assessment for arm-hand function. Control of the arm.
ABC
Activity specific balance confidence scale.
Patients rate their balance confidence in performing ADLs. Patients with perception deficits will think they can do everything when they can’t.
TIS
Trunk Impairment Scale.
Measure of motor impairment of trunk for patients with neurological conditions.
Static sitting balance, dynamic sitting balance and coordination.
BBS
Berg Balance Scale.
Static balance and fall prediction. How the patient is able to walk, without falling.
PASS
Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke.
Performance based assessment for postural control after stroke.
Observational Gait Analysis (13)
Standing posture
Heel strike
Knee mobility and posture
Hip mobility and posture
Pelvic mobility
Trunk mobility and stability (oscillations, reciprocation and posture)
Base and time of support
Symmetry
Step length
Cadence
Speed
Walking distance
DGI
Dynamic Gait Index.
Patients ability to adapt their body posture while walking, used for balance and gait disturbances.
TUG
Timed up and go.
Assesses basic mobility, determines gait speed, regardless of adaptations and compensations.
How the patient navigates in space, planning-strategies to stand up, go around the cone, trunk oscillations.
