Quadrants
Right upper quadrant, Left upper quadrant, Right lower quadrant, Left lower quadrant.
Umbilical region
The centermost region which includes the umbilicus (navel) — small intestine
Epigastric region
Immediately superior to the umbilical region; overlies most of the stomach.. stomach
Hypogastric (pubic) region
Immediately inferior to the umbilical region; encompasses the pubic area. urinary bladder
right Iliac or inguinal region
Lateral to the hypogastric region and overlying the superior parts of the hip bones. cecum, appendix
Right Lumbar region
Between the ribs and the flaring portions of the hip bones; lateral to the umbilical region. Ascending colon of the large intestine.
Right Hypochondriac regions
Flanking the epigastric region laterally and overlying the lower ribs. Liver, Gallbladder
Left Iliac or inguinal region
Lateral to the hypogastric region and overlying the superior parts of the hip bones. Initial part of the sigmoid colon
Left Lumbar region
Between the ribs and the flaring portions of the hip bones; lateral to the umbilical region. Descending colon of large intestine.
Left Hypochondriac regions
Flanking the epigastric region laterally and overlying the lower ribs. diaphragm, spleen
