What are developmental norms / key milestones?
- the stages that every individual is expected to develop at through particular stages in their life
- eg walking, talking, using a pen, tying shoe laces
What are the key areas of milestones?
- physical gross and fine motor skills

What is an observation?
- involves an assessment of a child’s abilities, learning and behaviour to ensure that children are making expected progress towards milestones

Define the term gross motor skills
- using large muscles
- eg arms and legs

- precise use of muscles
- eg hands and fingers

- 2 year olds can point finger to something when you name it

- develop identity and self image, relationships and feelings about themselves, learning skills to live in society with others
