Q

Talk about cause and effect

A

No evidence to prove link is causal, it’s all correlational
E.g. schizo linked to high levels of dopamine

Q

What did gottesman and shields say

A

Found that in monozygotic (genetically identical) twins there was a concordance rate of 50%.
If schizo was entirely the product of genetic inheritance we might expect the figure to be 100%
This is when the diathesis stress model plays a role

Q

What is the diathesis stress model

A

Model that explains that the disorder itself only develops if the indv is exposed to stressful life events. The genetic inheritance guess them susceptibility to the disorder.
So it explains the role of biology and experience
