Q

What does The Surgeon Preference Card Copy activity allows you to do?

A

The Surgeon Preference Card Copy activity allows you to make copies of multiple preference cards from one surgeon for another surgeon. This is a helpful way to start a new surgeon out at your facility and is more efficient than copying cards individually.

17
Q

What does a blue diamond indicate when copying preference cards?

A

These preference cards cannot be copied because the destination surgeon already has a preference card for this procedure.

18
Q

What does a red X indicate when copying preference cards?

A

These preference cards cannot be copied because the destination surgeon is not authorized to perform that procedure or is not authorized for that location.

19
Q

True or false: ORP records contain a flag that allows each to be marked as reviewed.

A

True: This flag can be used in reports when searching for preference cards that haven’t been reviewed for a certain amount of time.

20
Q

What is the preference card builder’s home workspace is designed to do?

A

The preference card builder’s home workspace is designed to give them a wide range of reports to pinpoint different preference card‐related deficiencies that need action, such as upcoming cases missing preference cards, cases with inactive supplies, and cards containing mismatched authorizations.

21
Q

What does it mean when a Reporting Workbench report is actionable?

A

That the user can take action on the results of the report immediately.

22
Q

Recall that the Procedure level item is one that Epic recommends be set in the base procedure. Also recall that the Procedure level item in an ORP record is important when charging for procedures. In general, procedures are given the same procedure level across the board regardless of what location they are performed in. Although you could configure location‐specific procedure levels that are assigned to cases via the preference card, this is uncommon. But why not copy this setting to the preference card if it will be the same in both records?

A

Recall that when a preference card pulls into a case, the system will use settings in the preference card. If in the future you choose to change a base procedure’s procedure level and any preference cards that include that procedure go unchanged, the case will still get the preference card’s setting for procedure level and charging would be inaccurate.

23
Q

What happens when the system needs a value for an item?

A

When left blank, the system will look through the ORP hierarchy all the way up to the base procedure when it needs a value for this item. This is yet another example of building by exception.

24
Q

When the preference card builder receives a change message, they will determine whether the requested change is appropriate, such as the cost of the requested change or availability of inventory. One tool the preference card builder has to investigate the cost of a card is the… What?

A

Preference Card Comparison tool.

25
Q

What does the Preference Card Comparison tool will allow preference card builders to do?

A

Identify differences between preference cards used for the same procedure.
Identify differences between the supplies and implants listed on the preference card and those actually used (or wasted) during past procedures.

26
Q

Why are preference cards imported before go‐live rather than built by hand?

A

Preference cards are imported because an organization will have thousands of preference cards. Importing not only allows for many preference cards to be created at once, but also lets you preserve a legacy system’s preference card data for use in Epic.

27
Q

What is the purpose of a dashboard?

A

What sorts of components can a dashboard contain? Dashboards are used to display targeted information to users. They can be made up of reports, links to other activities, and more.

28
Q

What does it mean for a report to be?

A

Actionable means that the user can take immediate action on the results of a report.

29
Q

What is the difference between Copy and Recopy?

A

Is when you create a new preference card using the information in another. Recopy is when you overwrite settings in an already existing preference card with those from another.

30
Q

In what situation would Surgeon Preference Card Copy be useful?

A

Surgeon Preference Card Copy is very useful when onboarding new surgeons to quickly create many preference cards for them at once.

31
Q

In what situation would Global Substitution be useful?

A

Global Substitution is useful when changing suppliers, when a resource is backordered, when new equipment is rolled out, and more.
