What is HRM?
The process of hiring and developing employees so that they become more valuable to the organization.
Human Resource Management includes conducting job analyses, planning personnel needs, recruiting the right people for the job, orienting and training, managing wages and salaries, providing benefits and incentives, evaluating performance, resolving disputes, and communicating with all employees at all levels. Examples of core qualities of HR management are extensive knowledge of the industry, leadership, and effective negotiation skills.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of internal and external recruitment?
Internal recruitment is good due to saving money, the managers personal knowledge of the employee, gaining attention of suitable candidates through internal systems such as email, can make appointment much easier. Disadvantage is if they do not receive the position they may feel negative towards the organisation.
External recruitment has positives such as being able to use technology such as internet recruiting, giving the recruitment manager scope to see as many applicants with minimal fuss. The downside is this can cost the company money and is a much more expensive method then internal recruitment.
